28/06/2025
GO Telecom (Etihad Atheeb) has signed a framework agreement with the
Ministry of Communications and Technology in the Syrian Arab Republic during
the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum held in Damascus. The agreement marks the
launch of an integrated technology project aimed at developing Syria’s digital
infrastructure and enhancing e-government services.
The agreement includes the establishment of two
data centers (primary and disaster recovery), a flexible cloud infrastructure,
a digital platform for government services, the creation of a cybersecurity
center, and training programs to upskill local technical talent.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Issa bin
Yaslam BaEssa, Chairman of GO Telecom, stated that technology is a key driver
of stability and development. He affirmed that the agreement reflects the
Kingdom’s commitment—and that of its national companies—to transferring digital
expertise to sister nations. He also expressed pride in the Group’s role in
supporting Syria’s digital transformation journey.
Yahya bin Saleh Al Mansour, CEO of GO Telecom,
emphasized that the agreement aligns with the company’s strategic vision to
become a comprehensive regional provider of digital solutions. He noted that
Syria presents a strategic opportunity to build robust digital infrastructure
managed by local talent.
Al Mansour added that the project features
smart solutions in cloud computing, cybersecurity, government service
automation, and service quality assurance, all of which aim to improve
operational efficiency and streamline processes. He stressed that digital
transformation is no longer optional—it is essential for reconstruction and
modern state-building.
GO Telecom clarified that this agreement forms
part of its broader regional expansion strategy, led by its subsidiary Ejad
Tech. It underscores the Group’s ambition to export Saudi digital expertise in
line with Vision 2030, which aims to boost the non-oil sector’s contribution to
GDP.
This
partnership reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts—under the guidance of its
wise leadership—to strengthen collaboration with brotherly nations, foster
strategic alliances in the technology and economic sectors, and open new
pathways for regional development based on shared goals of innovation,
sustainability, and future readiness.
